Five New Hampshire companies competed in the live streamed event on October 28th to an audience of nearly 850. Judges and the audience voted and the Breast Cancer Locator was crowned the 2021 Product of the Year winner!
The winner will have their product displayed at the Manchester Regional Airport in 2022. More details to come on the unveiling of the product display at the airport.
The Breast Cancer Locator (BCL) from CairnSurgical, Inc. was presented by CEO David Danielsen. They have developed a patient-specific surgical guidance solution for breast cancer lumpectomy. The Breast Cancer Locator provides surgeons with a 3D-printed custom surgical device and an interactive, MRI-derived visualization model of the tumor, including tumor shape, size, and location. It is designed to enable surgeons to be more precise and more successful in completely removing the tumor, thus reducing repeat surgeries.
Other finalists were:
- Helios Core from Helios Sports Inc.
- BioAssemblyBot® 500 from Advanced Solutions Life Sciences.
- Powermax SYNC from Hypertherm, Inc.
- HVT 2.0 from Vapotherm.
“The team at Cairn demonstrates the critical role technology plays in improving patient care. New Hampshire should be proud that a technology like the Breast Cancer Locator, which has the potential to improve the outcomes and overall experience of patients battling this disease, is being developed right in our own backyard.” said Julie Demers, executive director of the NH Tech Alliance.
