New Hampshire startups can compete for significant investments at Nov. 14 finalist event
The New Hampshire Tech Alliance (Alliance), a member-driven organization with a focus on advancing innovation throughout New Hampshire, has opened the application period for its annual TechOut event. This startup competition aimed at enhancing the New Hampshire tech ecosystem by awarding investment capital to early stage startups. Now in its eighth year, the 2019 TechOut competition will tap $300,000 in investment award funds from the Millworks II Fund, a partnership among NH investors and the New Hampshire Business Finance Authority.
For TechOut, the Millworks II Fund will provide $300,000 a year over three years: $200,000 for first place, and $100,000 for second. To date, $1.1 million has been awarded to startups through the TechOut competition.
“Over its eight years, TechOut has provided to about 20 companies, but has also helped many more entrepreneurs develop and refine ideas for future products and companies through the application and review process. The Alliance now offers more direct programming to help engage with and nurture startups, such as the Accelerate NH and Speed Venture Summit programs. We’re excited to see which companies apply for TechOut this year, hear their pitches and ultimately support a few that show the greatest promise for success,” said Pete Lachance, co-chair of the TechOut Committee and member of the Alliance board of directors.
TechOut identifies talented, hungry tech entrepreneurs and funds them through investment capital awards. It culminates with an event on November 14 that feature live pitches by the finalists, displays of their innovations, and networking opportunities with like-minded innovators, entrepreneurs, and investors. The TechOut judges determine the winners. They include individuals with exceptional business and investment experience, and many are members of the Entrepreneurs Foundation of New Hampshire.
The application period for TechOut is now open to startups that have been in business for less than five years, that have raised less than $250,000 and have earned less than $250,000 in revenue. TechOut will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2019 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. The location has not yet been confirmed.
