This week’s Member Monday is with Sterilray, Inc, a manufacturer of Far-UV excimer lamps. Far-UV can stop the spread of all viruses, bacteria, mold, fungus, and allergens. 222nm light is the only technology that does not rely on air exchanges to destroy airborne pathogens. They’re locally based out of Somersworth, New Hampshire.
Why was NH chosen as the home of your organization? What do you love about New Hampshire?
In 1970, Ed Neister, a physicist, moved to New Hampshire and founded Phase-R Corporation Inc., a laser company that designed and manufactured specialty lasers for the research field. Ed has over 25 years of experience in the design and manufacture of products used for scientific, defense and medical applications. Ed discovered the disinfection power of Far-UV 222 nm, in 1998.
New Hampshire is a great business environment that provides a high standard of living, with excellent schools, healthcare facilities, and a strong sense of community.
What are some recent accomplishments or milestones?
There are now dozens of studies that have proven the efficacy and safety of Far-UV. Fortunately, the world is finally taking notice of this technology for air, liquid, and surface disinfection.
Sterilray’s Far-UV technology has been installed in hospitals, office buildings, museums, schools, sports venues, as well as manufacturing and agricultural facilities. Many residential customers have purchased products due to mold concerns in their homes as well as protecting immunocompromised or COPD family members. We helped protect NH Tech Alliance members at the last two Innovation Summits and Product of the Year Watch Parties.
Why should NH Tech Alliance members know about Far-UV?
During the ongoing pandemic, ensuring the safety and well-being of employees has become paramount for businesses worldwide. The cost implications go beyond just loss of production; they extend to increased medical expenses, employee absenteeism, overwork and decreased morale among remaining staff members, and potential disruptions in delivering products or services to clients. By investing in Far-UV air disinfection solutions now, businesses can proactively protect their workforce from influenza, COVID-19 and all other airborne pathogens while mitigating these potential financial setbacks.
What new and exciting things do you have planned?
Sterilray has identified 32 use cases of Far-UV Technology. Sterilray has expanded into new markets, including food safety/shelf-life, packaging, Indoor air quality, dental, eye and wound care to name just a few.
