Join women technologists for “The Only One in High Heels: female leadership in STEM” on February 10 in Bedford
The next TechWomen Power Breakfast is Wednesday, February 10, 2016 from 7:30-9 am at Manchester Country Club, 180 South River Road, Bedford. Heather Lavoie, chief strategy officer for Geneia, will present “The Only One in Heels: female leadership in STEM,” and discuss her own journey into the technology field, major influencers along the way, and will highlight the work that Geneia is doing in healthcare.
“The Power Breakfast Series brings in speakers with unique backgrounds and perspectives that we can all learn from, and Heather is certainly no exception,” said Candice Benson, CEO of Benson Consulting and chair of the Council’s TechWomen Power Breakfast Committee. “Heather fell into technology unintentionally and we look forward to hearing her professional story and how women in STEM have influenced not only her own work, but the work that Geneia is doing as a company.”
Lavoie has nearly 30 years of experience in the healthcare field and has led everything from start-ups, health plans and provider organizations, to initiatives to identify and replicate best practices in healthcare use and delivery. Prior to joining Geneia, she co-founded and served as vice president of product development, delivery and engineering for Choicelinx Corporation, a CIGNA Health Care subsidiary. During her time there, she not only drove the product and technology strategy, she also co-authored an actuarial model with Milliman USA used for evaluating custom-design benefit plans.
As the chief strategy officer for Geneia, Lavoie oversees strategy development and execution, supporting the launch and administration of products and services that sit at the intersection of personalized and population health, and help healthcare organizations transform the way they deliver care. Additionally, she has accountability for the sales, marketing, legal, human resources and client relation functions. Lavoie is a graduate of Notre Dame College and holds a Masters of Business Administration from Southern New Hampshire University. She is a sought-after national speaker on healthcare issues.
