Why was NH chosen as the home of your company? What do you love about New Hampshire?
Growing up in Bedford, I definitely took it for granted and like so many other rabble rousers couldn’t wait to bust out of this town. So I did just that. But after being away for a number of years, my husband and I made the decision to return in the summer of 2020 when the world largely went remote. It wasn’t until 2023 that I launched Cupalo and was thrilled to do so here in NH for a number of reasons. First off, NH is home. As Simone Weil once ever so sagely said “to be rooted is perhaps the most important and least recognized need of the human soul.” Second, I love the idea of building something here because I can see just how positive the impact could be. Third, NH is easy to call home – it’s beautiful, we like the ethos of the people, and love its tax-free ways.
What are some recent accomplishments or milestones of your company?
Having only just launched this September 2023 and in a year marked by nationwide layoffs and hiring freezes (not optimal for a staffing company), I am proud of what we’ve built so far from both a brand and service offering perspective. Instead of focusing on the negative, we’ve pivoted and sought new ways to reach people, to give tremendous value to those in our little orbit and provide as much assistance as possible to people as they navigate their professional journeys.
Before the end of 2023 we squeaked out a goal of launching a weekly newsletter – https://cupalo.substack.com/ – ripe with industry insights, entertaining memes, guest content, links to a podcast video series, and “hot off the press” tech opps!
