Manchester-based Emerson Ecologics will be the featured presenter at the Entrepreneur Forum on Wednesday, February 15, one of the marquee events series run by the New Hampshire High Tech Council (Council). The program, geared toward the Granite State’s entrepreneur and business community, focuses on an opportunity or challenge faced by an organization that is shared with similar companies in their space and business cycle. The global business issue to be discussed will be “changing a business model from focusing on medical professionals to the actual consumers using the products in a world of rapidly-evolving healthcare.” Read more. The 2017 legislative session kicked off in a flurry with a new Republican Governor, Chris Sununu (first Republican governor elected since 2002), many new faces in the House and Senate with Republican majorities across the board. The New Hampshire High Tech Council will be very active this year in our focal areas, one of which is tech talent development. There are two key pieces of legislation we worked on that address tech talent recruitment, both of which have been sponsored by Senator Dan Innis (R-24). Read more. Read more

In late 2016, I was at an event with the NH Department of Resources and Economic Development (DRED) Commissioner Jeff Rose and we were talking about ways to address the workforce shortages. We agreed that there is no single solution, but many ways to attack the challenge through the three R’s – recruit, retain, retrain. This has now become our shared refrain. Read more. Read more

Newness and change, part of a vibrant ecosystem, are certainly evident in New Hampshire. 2016 closed with two very significant announcements – Oracle’s acquisition of Dyn and the nearly $300 million commitment in federal, industry, university and nonprofit funding to launch and support an Advanced Regenerative Manufacturing Institute (ARMI) in Manchester. The New Hampshire High Tech Council (Council) will host its last TechWomen Power Breakfast of the year on Wednesday, December 14 from 7:30 to 9 am at the Manchester Country Club, 180 South River Road in Bedford. The program, “Mindfulness and Father Christmas,” will be presented by Dr. Annabel Beerel, an organizational consultant who will discuss strategies to reduce anxiety during one of the most hectic and frenzied times of the year. Even though New Hampshire is a small state in terms of size and population, we have a large and active non-commercial sector that serves and supports many technology causes and affinity groups. New ones form regularly and like the private sector, there are occasional mergers and acquisitions.
